About Our President/CEO
Frank Spitznogle, President and CEO
Dr. Frank Spitznogle has been a senior executive in the Communications, Computing, Software, and Systems Integration sectors for the past two decades. He has been instrumental in the formation of a number of new companies and business initiatives in these sectors, and in developing the strategic, market, and product strategies, as well as operational tactics to drive growth in the companies he has supported. He functions as well in a large multinational corporate environment as in an early stage startup.
He has been highly active in the development and execution of advanced communications products and businesses since the 1990 timeframe. Frank has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for the creation and development of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses within large companies. He understands technologies as well as markets and strategic development; his experience base allows him to tackle a broad spectrum of business challenges.
Early in Frank's career he headed two business units at Texas Instruments, followed by a period where he managed two spinouts from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT. He then joined U S WEST (now Qwest) where he headed the business planning effort that led to their advanced data services business unit, called !nterprise, where he was VP of Markets and Innovation.
In 1991 Frank formed Strategic Focus, Inc., a consulting and executive outsourcing services firm focused on communications, computer, software, and systems integration clients, which he continues to operate today. SFI provides business plan, business case, strategic plan, and alliance support, as well as new product planning, spinout, interim executive management, and business process reengineering services.
Frank has extensive experience in the Far East and Europe, including 9 months in a dozen countries in the Far East leading a team analyzing market opportunities and alliance partners for a U.S.-based Fortune 500 company, and extensive time in China evaluating potential plant sites and the semiconductor state-of-the art in China for a major U.S.-based electronics firm.
Frank possesses a unique mix of senior executive operating experience in large and small technology companies, more than a decade of strategic support to both large and emerging companies, and a technical background in computing, software, and communications. When this is coupled with a MBA in Business Management, advanced technical degrees, and extensive business experience in the U.S., Pacific Rim and Europe, one has an executive with an exceedingly strong array of skills and experience.
